  • Xanga really is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.
I love my other blogging world but
I keep wondering about many friends
    in the Xanga world.

Now girls, Jerry may be gone,
but Di is still here wondering about each of you.
And I bet she would pass on info to Jerry
that might get shared on here.

And I LOVE to hear thoughts
    about others worlds,
    see cute kid pictures,
    read about your daily adventures,
    hear your heart and mind
    about the world around you.
    Whether you write really well
    or are like me----
    lots of ----'s and ....'s,
    with rambling sentences
    that go on for ever.....
because it's really like my pondering mind
when I write all that I'm thinking---

    well, I miss you all.
I am having a ball over in my blogging world,
    peeking into others worlds,
seeing wonderful pictures of things I would never see,
being encouraged in my walk with God,
laughing over what kids can do to us,
    REALLY LAUGHING
at what our near elderly minds do to us,
    being reminded daily
that there are LOTS of ways to look
    at the world.

Some of you I see every week,
some every once in a while,
    some I have never met,
    some are FAR,FAR away.
It's sad that it's faded away.
But maybe it's time to move on---
    I miss you.

    My favorite new ornament.

We went to an amazing Christmas Concert Sat. night
    at a beautiful Catholic Church.
    Christmas has now begun.
David's office was part of the design team
when they TOTALLY redid the church 5 years ago.
I mean totally as in razed it all but the old sanctuary
    and gutted even that part
    and started over.
They wanted the new building to be
    a community church.
They brought in acoustical design specialists
so that the sound of music would be stunning.
It was--tears came at least 4 times.
Many times I couldn't even understand
them when they sang the "stuffy" songs in English.
But it didn't matter---the power of the sound
of all those 130 some voices
    took me to His throne.
I know the majority of the choirs
    probably don't know Him,
but they were singing about my Lord.
It gave me a tiny glimpse of what our worship
    could sound like in heaven.
The choirs stood around the entire building
on the upper balcony at times--
    ladies, it was amazing.
He is worthy of our praise and exhalation.
I think I take Him for granted
and need a good intense worship session
    focused on Him,
not what I need from Him
or what He does for me---
just worship purely directed at Him.
    Exalting His name,
praising Him for He alone is worthy.

"You're blessed when you're content with
just who you are---no more, no less.
that's the moment you find yourselves proud owners
of everything that can't be bought.
    You're blessed when you've worked
up a good appetite for God.
    He's food and drink
in the best meal you'll ever eat."
    Matt. 5:5-6

A small chapel off to one side.

Everything on the main floor was hand craved wood
    from New Mexico artists.

They are so gracious to allow photography inside.

  • ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

Hmmmm, interesting.  I entered my blogspot.com address and this was the analysis. hmmmmm  If you want you can go to
Typealyzer to see what personality you might be---hmmm

  • Is it spring or fall?
I just brought these in from outside.
Last spring I tucked some Snapdragon starts
right up next to the foundation on the south side.
They have been protected from the cold.
Everything else in the yard is brown---
    This is so fun!

  • A church secretary takes a call. The caller says ,"Is the head hog at the trough there?"

The secretary says, "Please Sir, do not refer to our pastor as the head hog at the trough.
    That is very insulting."

"Oh, I'm very sorry. I meant nothing by that. It's just a local phase we use in the part of the country I come from. The real reason I called was to donate $50,000.00 to your building fund."

The secretary says, "Hold on. I see the 'Big Oinker' coming through the door right now."

  • Elementary Motherhood*

Following are answers given by elementary school-age children to the given questions:

    Why did God make mothers?

    1. She's the only one who knows where the Scotch Tape is.

    2. Think about it. It was the best way to get more people.

    3. Mostly to clean the house.

    4. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

    How did God make mothers?

    1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

    2. Magic, plus super powers, and a lot of stirring.

    3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

    1. We are related.

    2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

    1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.

    2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string. I think.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

    1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.

    2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.

    3. They say she used to be nice.

How did your mom meet your dad?

    1. Mom was working in a store and dad was shoplifting.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

    1. His last name.

    2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

    1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot.

    2. She got too old to do anything else with him.

    3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

    What makes a real woman?

    1. It means you have to be really bossy without looking bossy.

Who's the boss at your house?

    1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because Dad is such a goofball.

    2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.

    3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than Dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?

    1. Moms work at work and work at home, and dads just work at work.

    2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.

    3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power because that's who you have to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

    1. Mothers don't have spare time.

    2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What's the difference between moms and grandmas?

    1. About 30 years.

    2. You can always count on grandmothers for candy. Sometimes moms don't even have bread on them.

    Describe the world's greatest mom?

    1. She would be able to make broccoli taste like ice cream.

    2. The greatest mom in the world wouldn't make me kiss my fat aunts.

    3. She'd always be smiling and keep her opinions to herself.

Is anything about your mom perfect?

    1. Her teeth are perfect, but she bought them from the dentist.

    2. Her casserole recipes. But we hate them.

    3. Just her children.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

    1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.

    2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd dye it, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

    1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.

    2. I'd make my mom smarter -- then she would know my sister did it and not me.

  • Ketchup factoid went away

I can hardly wait for this tree to finish changing color.
This was last year and it stunned me with it's beauty.

My ketchup factoid post was deleted--
accidently.  Several times while using the keyboard
I hit SOMETHING and I jump pages,
    pictures disappear, or complete pages.
    Oh well---it wasn't earth shattering.
Just a bizarre factoid out there that I
    had never heard before.

Here is Joan's Shrimp casserole recipe.
It's really like a grand comfort food.
    VERY EASY!

    Shrimp Casserole
    2 lbs. cooked shrimp
(any size you want--the bigger they are
the more I cut them into big chunks)
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped onion
2 c. cooked rice (I used instant brown rice)
    3/4 c. tomato juice
1 can cream of mushroom soup
    2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
    salt and pepper to taste
1 small can crab meat (optional, but I used it)

Mix all ingredients (except cheese).  Place in a greased 9x13 pam.
sprinkle cheese on top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

The recipe concluded with the following instructions.
    call 380-**** or 258-****
and tell me what time to be there for dinner.

  • Candy's Louisiana Banana Bread

    This is REALLY good stuff.
I think the sour cream and lemon juice
    are the only different ingredients
from my regular bread but this came out really good.

    Candy's Louisiana Banana Bread

    1 cup butter
    2 cups sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. lemon juice
4 eggs 2 cups mashed bananas
    1 tsp. salt
    3 1/2 cups flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 cup sour cream
    1 cup chopped nuts

Cream the butter with the sugar, add extract and eggs,
one at a time, then add bananas.
Sift all dry ingredients, add to the wet ingredients,
alternately with sour cream, fold in nuts.
Bake in two greased loaf pans at 350 degrees
for 50-55 minutes. Makes 2 loaves.

I added one bag of Dark Chocolate chips
to one recipe of two loaves.
It really is up to you what you add and how much.

  • The Place of Humiliation
If You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us —Mark 9:22

After every time of exaltation, we are brought down with a sudden rush into things as they really are, where it is neither beautiful, poetic, nor thrilling. The height of the mountaintop is measured by the dismal drudgery of the valley, but it is in the valley that we have to live for the glory of God. We see His glory on the mountain, but we never live for His glory there. It is in the place of humiliation that we find our true worth to God— that is where our faithfulness is revealed. Most of us can do things if we are always at some heroic level of intensity, simply because of the natural selfishness of our own hearts. But God wants us to be at the drab everyday level, where we live in the valley according to our personal relationship with Him. Peter thought it would be a wonderful thing for them to remain on the mountain, but Jesus Christ took the disciples down from the mountain and into the valley, where the true meaning of the vision was explained (see Mark 9:5-6 , Mark 14-23 ).

"If you can do anything . . . ." It takes the valley of humiliation to remove the skepticism from us. Look back at your own experience and you will find that until you learned who Jesus really was, you were a skillful skeptic about His power. When you were on the mountaintop you could believe anything, but what about when you were faced with the facts of the valley? You may be able to give a testimony regarding your sanctification, but what about the thing that is a humiliation to you right now? The last time you were on the mountain with God, you saw that all the power in heaven and on earth belonged to Jesus— will you be skeptical now, simply because you are in the valley of humiliation?

    hmmmmm
